It's been a while since I last ran a marathon. That was in Munich back in 1992. I ran quiet a few half-marathons since then. This year I finally challenged myself to another marathon. So I ran Zurich Marathon this past weekend.
Even though the weather was terrible - icy rain / snow and temperatures around 2°C - it was an amazing experience running through the city of Zurich and along lake Zurich together with almost 9.000 fellow runners.
I'd like to share the result and some impressions below.
My running goal for 2014 was 3,000 km. With todays run I accumulated 3,400 kilometers this year. So what’s next? Since I want to keep challenging myself I have set my goal for 2015 to 3,500 kilometers.
A nice way to visualize the effect of running is dailymile’s donut meter. Now I know that I have burned 201 donuts while running 363 Kilometers in January. That is 107 Kilometers ahead of my 3000+ Kilometer target. I will definitely think about raising the bar to 4000+. But first I am going to get one of those donuts back.
2013 was my first full year of running tracked with Runmeter. Knowing that every single mile was tracked not only made me go some extra miles but also made me go out for a run where I might not have gone without.
Here are the stats from 2013 in a single chart.
My favorite running tracks in 2013 were Lake Front Trail in Chicago, Ocean Front Walk between Santa Monica and Marina Del Ray and the Hills overlooking Lake Zurich in Switzerland.
